Roy Keith Byram, P. Eng.
Before moving to the Yukon in 1969, Keith worked for Defense Construction Limited, with postings at nine different locations across the country. He then took up a position in Whitehorse as Design and Construction Engineer for the Department of Public Works. During that time he was responsible for reconstruction and maintenance of the Alaska Highway from Mile 83 to the Alaska border, and for construction of the Dempster Highway.
He left the government in 1976 to take over General Enterprises with four partners, during which time they constructed 18 miles of the Dempster Highway north of the Eagle River Bridge.
Since 1987, he has been president of Pelly Construction, Kluane Construction and R.K. Byram Engineering. During this time, he has overseen the completion of 200 civil projects, including the construction of an airstrip, hangar, fuel farm and water system on Adelaide Island, Antarctica.
Keith has been active both professionally and in the community, where he has served as the Chair of the Yukon Hospital Foundation and the Yukon Territory Water Board. A member of APEY since 1970, he has twice served as president, in 1972 and again in 1979.
